Although we rarely recognize it as children, how well we do in school can often predict the pattern for the rest of our lives. At best, children might want to please their parents and teachers, fearing nothing worse than recriminations if they fail to do well. Or, at worst, come home with a bad report card. For children, doing well in school really only matters in the here and now. Yet for parents, things are often taken far more seriously when they worry about the long term prospects of their child as they watch when opportunities, and likely ones which will never again be accessible, are wasted.
As children grow though, and particularly when they enter their teens, they come to realize that if they want to secure the occupation they always dreamed of, maybe being a veterinary surgeon, nurse, doctor or lawyer, then they have to, even in the face of tempting social odds, apply themselves.
My School and Studies Spell brings to the fore the importance of learning in youth. It allows for students of all ages, not only to recognize the significance of learning but to also enjoy it. For many children and adults, too, loving a subject drives our yearning for knowledge. Then any subsequent successes, particularly in the form of receiving higher grades, become self-perpetuating. The higher the sense of achievement, the more we enjoy something, and the more we are driven to learn about it.
Too often, perhaps we focus on what learning and education can earn us; rather than teaching children, the knowledge will, in itself, provide them with a sense of satisfaction, which will likely drive their career and lifestyle choices.
My School and Studies Spell also allows students to achieve a sense of calm and openness to knowledge when they are studying. Many students are anxious about learning because the message often transmitted to them is that it is extremely important they do well and succeed. Failure, even if it is in the form of lower grades, is rarely something to be congratulated or, in some cases, even tolerated. This attitude, though, is not conducive to effective learning. It is, for the majority of students, something which simply increases anxiety and results in distractions.
My School and Studies Spell allows students to place such negative statements and thoughts to the back of their mind, and concentrate on what really matters – learning to enjoy whatever subject they are studying.
